Funkist, stylized as FUNKIST, is a Japanese rock band under the Powerplay label. The band is most famous for producing two opening theme songs, "Snow Fairy" and "Ft.", for the anime Fairy Tail.

History

[edit]

Funkist was formed in 2001 as a group of three, consisting of vocalist Saigo Someya, guitarist Miyata Taiji, and guitarist Yoshiro.[1]

In 2005, Funkist toured Tokyo, Okinawa, and Macau.[citation needed]

In 2006, the band had multiple prominent live tours: one in South Africa, and another one touring all 47 prefectures of Japan.

In 2007, the single "White World" reached #1 on the Tower Records in Shibuya J-INDIES chart for two consecutive weeks, as well as reaching #14 on the Oricon Indie chart.[1] China, Macau dared live tour.[clarification needed] They also performed at Shibuya O-East.[citation needed]

In 2008, Funkist performed at Shibuya-AX. Additionally, in May, they performed in the Global Article 9 Conference to Abolish War in Tokyo.[2][3] In July, they signed with Pony Canyon. As a model for the item, "Artist" in the "Images Ashinaru" Images site offers live photos.[clarification needed]

In 2008, Funkist released the single "All Together," which reached prominence as the theme song of the "All-Star Charity Pro Wrestling" charity event's "Tohoku Earthquake All Together" production. On October 13, 2011, at 12:17 p.m., the band's flutist, Yōko Kasugai, died at the age of 35 while recuperating from an illness.[4][5]
