Franziska Zimmerer (born May 23, 1993) is a German communications consultant, journalist and political scientist.
Family
[edit]Franziska Zimmerer was born in Munich and has two younger sisters. Her grandfather is the economist and business broker de:Carl Zimmerer.
Education
[edit]After graduating from the Merz School in Stuttgart in 2011, she first studied law at the University of Konstanz. From 2012, she studied political science with a minor in law and a focus on media and copyright law at the Geschwister Scholl Institute of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.
Zimmerer then studied at University College London from 2015. In 2017, she completed her studies in Politics and Communications with a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Professional career
[edit]Since 2018 she has been working at the media agency StoryMachine, which was founded in 2017 by former BILD editor Kai Diekmann, Michael Mronz and Philipp Jessen [A 1] There she heads the Politics & Public Affairs department.
Zimmerer publishes articles and guest contributions on the use of social media in a political context, gives lectures on political communication and researches the topic of political memes in social networks.
Journalistic activity
[edit]In addition to her studies, Zimmerer worked as a freelance journalist for Bild.de and ZEIT ONLINE[1][2] among others. Here she wrote on domestic politics, Europe[3] and international conflicts[4], among other things.
On December 29, as "Head of Community & Social" at Die Welt, she had, explained under the headline "Why I would not have printed this article" that a guest article does not have to "reflect the opinions represented in an editorial office". But anyone who reads Musk's lines will realize after three sentences: It is an overly complex election call for the AfD, which does not contain any argument and whose author did not even find it necessary to spend three minutes dealing with this party.[5][6]
Politics
[edit]Franziska Zimmerer became a member of the FDP after losing the 2013 federal election. Since 2020 she has been editor-in-chief of jung+liberal, the Young Liberals' member magazine.[7] In this role, she is a co-opted member of the Young Liberals' federal executive board. [8]
