Franz Josef Hoop (29 April 1871 – 15 July 1923) was a political figure from Liechtenstein who served in the Landtag of Liechtenstein.
Life
[edit]Hoop was born on 29 April 1871 in Eschen and spent his early years working as a farmer.[1]
From 1909 to 1918 and again from 1921 to 1923 Hoop served in the municipal council of Eschen and was also Deputy Mayor of Eschen from 1921 to 1923. He was elected into the Landtag of Liechtenstein as a member of the Christian-Social People's Party in 1918 and served in this position until 1922.[1][2]
Personal life
[edit]Hoop married Berta Batliner (18 November 1870 – 26 February 1906) and they had five children together. After her death in 1906 he went on to marry Maria Mathilde Schächle and they had another two children.[1][3] One of his sons from his first marriage, Josef Hoop, also pursued a political career and served as the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein from 1928 to 1945.[4]
Hoop died on 15 July 1923, in Eschen, aged 52 years old.[1]
