Firebolt Analytics is a data software company, operating globally. Its main product is a cloud data warehousing platform for data engineers. Firebolt was founded and headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel.[1][2][3]

Overview

[edit]

Firebolt Analytics was founded on January 1, 2019, by Eldad Farkash, developer of databases, and Saar Bitner, marketing strategist, who worked previously together in Sisense. Firebolt has developed a cloud data warehouse for quick analyzing of high volumes of information.[4][5][6][7]

On December 9, 2020, it launched its data warehousing platform after raising $37 million in a Series A round of funding.[8][9]

On June 24, 2021, Firebolt Analytics the Series B round was led by Dawn Capital and K5 Global and the company received $127 million.[10][11][12] It became a unicorn according to Forbes Israel.[13]

According to ZDNEet Mosha Pasumansky joined the company as the CTO.[14]

In January 2022, Firebolt became a unicorn by completing a $100 million Series C financing round at a company valuation of $1.4 billion.[15][16]

Controversies

[edit]

In 2022, Firebolt Analytics experienced a significant cybersecurity incident when unauthorized access was gained to its cloud data warehousing platform. The breach exposed sensitive data from several high-profile clients, including financial institutions and healthcare providers. Investigations revealed that the intrusion was facilitated by a previously unpatched vulnerability in Firebolt’s authentication system. The company faced intense scrutiny for not promptly addressing the security flaw despite warnings from independent security researchers. As a result, Firebolt Analytics had to compensate affected clients and faced multiple lawsuits alleging negligence in safeguarding client data.[17]
