Not real

[edit]

https://www.weather.gov/images/oun/wxevents/19790410/tornado/wichitafalls/blacklock12.jpg is the real image which is photoshopped to hell and back •Cyberwolf•talk? 14:45, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

Photo is literally sourced by a news article from WDRB meteorologist Jeremy Kappell. Not a hoax and I do not appreciate having it being called vandalism. --The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 14:47, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It’s clearly fake the image i sent above literally is identical •Cyberwolf•talk? 14:51, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Original research. Do you have an RS which directly says it is a fake image? The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 14:54, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Does this even count as original research i literally overlayed the image its the same thing •Cyberwolf•talk? 14:56, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyberwolf, I don’t think we’re going to be hearing from WeatherWriter again on here for a while. Apparently he violated 3RR yesterday and ended up getting blocked for a week.
Now I’ll admit, calling it vandalism might be a little extreme; but the image does look like it’s computer generated, and the trees do look like what you might find on a video game (like Minecraft); and not like what I would expect to see with a picture that was actually taken (even in the 1920s). Although CSD may still be met by virtue of it being an orphaned picture. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 06:58, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah •Cyberwolf•talk? 14:28, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although @WeatherWriter did at least source the image. From
of all places archive.org, so I highly doubt he intended to vandalize Wikipedia. He (and archive.org) probably didn’t know it was fake. So I think WP:AGF should apply here. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:22, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(And ps. I know he can’t reply here; but I pinged him anyway because I think he needs to read the above). Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:22, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. Now, I am ok with it being deleted under the the orphaned deletion template as it is no longer in use on an article. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 02:26, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Technically it go onto commons cause it’s technically noaa material but just edited •Cyberwolf•talk? 11:04, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But @Cyberwolf, was it solely created by NOAA? Because me and @Rlandmann have nominated hundreds of files for deletion in the past six months because it was a third party file that was tagged as being supposedly public domain (when the rights holders in fact never released their rights to them). @Hurricane Clyde: Made by Pat Blackrock, who was not an NWS employee at the time, so no. EF5 17:51, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah it was hosted on noaa website •Cyberwolf•talk? 20:38, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
