Contested deletion

Photo is literally sourced by a news article from WDRB meteorologist Jeremy Kappell. Not a hoax and I do not appreciate having it being called vandalism. --The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 14:47, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

@Cyberwolf, I don’t think we’re going to be hearing from WeatherWriter again on here for a while. Apparently he violated 3RR yesterday and ended up getting blocked for a week.

Now I’ll admit, calling it vandalism might be a little extreme; but the image does look like it’s computer generated, and the trees do look like what you might find on a video game (like Minecraft); and not like what I would expect to see with a picture that was actually taken (even in the 1920s). Although @WeatherWriter did at least source the image. From

of all places archive.org, so I highly doubt he intended to vandalize Wikipedia. He (and archive.org) probably didn’t know it was fake. So I think WP:AGF should apply here. Hurricane Clyde 🌀^{my talk page!} 17:22, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

But @Cyberwolf, was it solely created by NOAA? Because me and @Rlandmann have nominated hundreds of files for deletion in the past six months because it was a third party file that was tagged as being supposedly public domain (when the rights holders in fact never released their rights to them).
