DescriptionSqueaks and twangs of greenwich pier.ogg
English: The sounds of Greenwich Pier, London, as it's stretched and released, and moved up and down, by the movement of water. You can hear the gentle sounds of water lapping against the structure and the eerie metallic twanging of the gangway that connects the pier to the riverbank. The gangway and pier are connected so that as the river waters rise and fall with the tides the gangway lies flat (at high tide, with the pier raised) or is at a much steeper angle at low tide when the pier is at its lowest point. I was standing on the pier when I made this recording, having taken a Thames Clipper ferry home in the late evening, it was a bit chilly but at least not raining and I thought it sounded rather lovely.
