English: 3D rendering of swell waves using Gerstner waves for the simulation of the ocean surface and POV-Ray for the rendering. The animation is periodic and can be looped by right-clicking on it when it is playing.
Deep water waves: the mean water depth is 1.7 times the wavelength at the spectral peak. Modified JONSWAP spectrum (Donelan, Hamilton & Hui, 1985, Phil. Trans. R. Soc. Lond. A 315, pp. 509–562) with peakedness factor γ=6.0. Standard deviation of the directional wave spreading distribution is 10°. The spatial periodic tiling has 4000×4000 grid points, with 13 wavelengths at the spectral peak, in both directions. For more information on the techniques used, see: J. Tessendorf (2001) Simulating ocean water, SIGGRAPH 2001 – Simulating Nature: Realistic and Interactive Techniques, 26 pp.
