Eugenio Sena (born 19 December 1991) is an Italian professional football manager.

Early life

Sena was born in 1991 in Ragusa, Sicily, south of Italy. After completing his high school education, he moved to northern Italy to pursue a degree in Sport Science and Exercise at University of Pavia, near Milan. Sena furthered his studies by obtaining a Master’s degree in Football Performance at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Milano.

Sena has held a range of coaching roles with clubs across multiple countries, including: Italy, Hungary, Australia, China, Russia, England, Montenegro, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Cyprus and Scotland.

Academy career

While at university, Sena interned at the Football Club Internazionale Milano center.

In 2014, Sena moved abroad to Hungary, where he joined the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (Premier League) side club Debreceni VSC.There, he worked with youth teams and assisted the club’s scouting department.[2]

In 2015, Sena relocated to Australia and took up coaching roles at Fraser Park FC and Dunbar Rovers FC in Sydney. At Dunbar Rovers, he served as Academy Manager.

He then joined Juventus Football Club where he held roles as a technical coordinator, chief scout, head of football, and lead coach. He worked in countries such as China, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, and Georgia.

In 2017, Sena returned to Italy and joined Serie A side AC ChievoVerona focusing on youth team development.[3]

In 2018, Sena moved to England to coach Football League Two side Yeovil There, he worked as academy coach and Head of Analysis.[4]

First team career

The following year, he moved to Montenegro, where he joined FK Obilić as Assistant Manager.[5]

In 2021, Sena’s career took him to Saudi Arabia, where he became Assistant Manager at Saudi First Division League side Al Faisaly, under manager Paolo Tramezzani (former Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and Football Club Internazionale Milano player). During his tenure, Al Faisaly was playing the Saudi Super Cup and AFC Champions League Elite. Sena also briefly served as the club's caretaker manager during this time..[6]

In 2022, Sena took on his first managerial role when he was appointed as the first-team manager of AEP Kozani a club in Greece’s third division.[7][8]

Sena’s next major move came in 2023 when he joined Scottish Premiership side Livingston.[9] as Assistant Coach and Head of Analysis.

After one season with Livingston, Sena agreed with manager David Martindale to accept an offer as the first-team manager of Podosfairikos Omilos Xylotymbou 2006 in Cyprus' Second League.[10][11]

Beyond coaching, Sena has appeared as a guest interviewer and writer, providing expert commentary on the game. His work has been featured in publications such as La Gazzetta dello Sport.[12] [13] and Tuttosport [14] [15]
