Encyclia patens is a species of orchid native to east and south Brazil.[3] Encyclia flava is a synonym of Encyclia patens var. patens.[1]
As of December 2023[update], two varieties were accepted by Plants of the World Online:[3]
- Encyclia patens var. patens
- Encyclia patens var. serroniana (Barb.Rodr.) Romanini & F.Barros
The diploid chromosome number of E. patens has been determined as 2n = 40.[4]
