Emily D. Baker is an American legal commentator, podcast host, and former deputy district attorney.[2] She is best known for her YouTube channel and podcast,[3] "The Emily Show,"[4] where she provides legal analysis and commentary on high-profile cases and pop culture events.[5][6] She is a former Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, [7] from 2004 until 2020.

Early life and education

Baker grew up in Manhattan Beach, California.[5] She earned her law degree from Southwestern Law School[8] before embarking on a career as a deputy district attorney. After passing the California bar in 2005,[8] she began practicing law in Los Angeles.

After leaving her position as a deputy district attorney in 2020, Baker quickly gained recognition as a legal YouTube commentator.[9] She became particularly well-known during her coverage of the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial.[10][11][12] Her live streams of the trial attracted over 100,000 concurrent viewers, making her channel one of the top sources for trial coverage on YouTube.[citation needed]
