Elementor Ltd. is an Israeli software development company primarily known for its WordPress website builder, Elementor. The Elementor website builder allows WordPress users to create and edit websites with a responsive drag-and-drop technique similar to Wix, Metaconex, or Webflow.[2][3]

Elementor is available in two versions: a free version and a premium version called Elementor Pro.[4]

Elementor Pro offers additional features for creating more complex websites compared to the free version, which only provides basic page builder functionality. Elementor Pro enables users to customize their websites with a broader range of tools and options.[5]

As of January 2021, Elementor was available in over 57 languages and ranked among the top 5 highest-rated WordPress page builders, with over 5 million active installations worldwide.[6] It is an open-source platform licensed under GPLv3 licensed[7] and powers 2.24% of the top 1 million websites globally.[8]

In its first round of institutional funding, the company raised $15 million from Lightspeed Venture Partners.[9]

History[edit]

Elementor was founded in 2016 by Yoni Luksenberg and Ariel Klikstein.[1]

In May 2019, the Elementor team’s "Hello" theme was listed on WordPress.org.[10] The Hello theme is a minimalistic theme framework specifically designed to pair with the Elementor page builder.[11]

On March 31, 2020, Elementor launched an expert network for Web Creators.[12]

Awards[edit]

Elementor was recognized by Israeli business daily Calcalist as one of the top 50 most promising Israeli startups for 2019.[13]

Partnerships & acquisitions[edit]

In 2019, Elementor acquired Layers WP, a WordPress theme brand.[14] That same year, Elementor partnered with A2 Hosting to provide a hosting account for its users.[15]

Reception[edit]

On WordPress.org, the Elementor plugin has a rating of 4.7 stars.[16] ThemeIsle.com gave it a rating of 9.3, citing its numerous templates, various content modules, and ease of use.[17]
