The School of Textile and Clothing Industries (ESITH) Established: 1996 Location: Casablanca, Morocco
The École Supérieure des Industries du Textile et de l'Habillement (ESITH) is a premier engineering school in Casablanca, Morocco, specializing in textiles, clothing, and industrial engineering. It was founded in 1996 as part of a strategic public-private partnership aimed at enhancing the Moroccan textile sector, a vital component of the national economy. The school was created in collaboration with prominent French institutions, ENSAIT (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles) and ENSISA (École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Sud-Alsace), both leaders in textile engineering education.
Academic Programs ESITH offers diverse programs that combine technical knowledge and hands-on industry experience, preparing students to meet market demands. Key programs include:
Textile Engineering: As the only Moroccan institution offering a specialized degree in textile engineering, ESITH provides training in textile production, advanced materials, and sustainable practices. The program also includes international internships, such as with the Canadian Group CTT.
Industrial Engineering: This department offers three specialized tracks:
Product Management: Focuses on designing and managing textile products from development to manufacturing. Supply Chain and Logistics: Emphasizes the optimization of supply chain processes, vital for global textile production. Textile and Clothing Management: Trains students in managerial roles specific to the textile and clothing industries.
Industrial Maintenance and Safety (IMS): The IMS branch focuses on maintaining industrial equipment and ensuring workplace safety, essential for efficient and secure production processes. Students are trained in industrial risk management, machine maintenance, and safety standards applicable to manufacturing.
Chemistry and Materials Processing: This program is dedicated to material science and chemical processing, providing students with expertise in the treatment and transformation of materials used in textile and industrial products. It covers topics like polymer science, chemical engineering, and innovative treatments for textile materials. Industry Collaborations and Internships
ESITH maintains strong ties with industry leaders and offers students opportunities for internships and real-world projects Like ENSAIT ESTIA INSAIT in France and Kadir Has University and Istanbul Technical University in Türkiye and Shinshu University In Japan. Collaborations with both Moroccan and international companies provide students with invaluable experience, contributing to high employability rates among graduates. ESITH graduates are highly sought after, particularly in the fields of textiles, supply chain management, and industrial engineering.
Facilities and Research The school is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities dedicated to textile innovation, quality testing, and sustainable practices. ESITH also promotes research in areas such as:
Textile material innovation and smart fabrics Sustainable manufacturing processes Circular economy practices in textile production International Partnerships
Beyond its collaborations with ENSAIT and ENSISA, ESITH is involved in partnerships with various international universities and research institutes. These collaborations enhance the academic experience by enabling student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and access to cutting-edge technological advancements in the textile industry.
ESITH’s Role in the Moroccan Economy:
The establishment of ESITH has played a crucial role in the growth of Morocco’s textile industry, which is a significant contributor to the country’s economy. The school’s focus on innovation, sustainable practices, and industry integration has made it a model for other institutions. The success of its public-private partnership has been lauded and replicated in other sectors.
Location and Architecture ESITH is located in Casablanca, Morocco's economic hub, placing it at the centre of the country's industrial and economic activities. The campus boasts modern facilities designed to foster a productive learning environment. Its architecture reflects a blend of traditional Moroccan design and contemporary educational needs.
Notable Achievements European label: ESITH is the only school in Morocco to receive a European label, certifying the high standards of its programs and international collaborations.
Member of prestigious networks: ESITH is part of AUTEX (Association of Universities for Textiles), a global network that includes the top universities in textile engineering.
International academic partnerships: The school participates in programs like Erasmus+, allowing academic exchanges and mobility for both students and faculty.
Recognition in Mediterranean and Francophone networks: ESITH is affiliated with CITEF and RMEI, enhancing its international reputation within engineering schools across the Mediterranean and French-speaking regions.
Research and development leadership: The school is a pioneer in textile R&D, offering state-of-the-art labs for advanced testing and collaboration with industry experts.
