WP:ACADEMIC criteria: Academics meeting any one of the following conditions, as substantiated through reliable sources, are notable.
Professor Catharine West's profile satisfy the following criteria:
1. "The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources. The most typical way of satisfying Criterion 1 is to show that the academic has been an author of highly cited academic work – either several extremely highly cited scholarly publications or a substantial number of scholarly publications with significant citation rates. To count towards satisfying Criterion 1, citations need to occur in peer-reviewed scholarly publications such as journals or academic books." Numerous independent sources talk about her work as listed in her profile. Also, her work is highly cited in the field.
2. "The person has received a highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level. " She has received two major awards for her work as listed in her profile.
3. "The person has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society) or a Fellow of a major scholarly society for which that is a highly selective honor (e.g., the IEEE)." She has been a fellow and a member of numerous prestigious societies as listed in her profile.
