About Zantaz Data Resources

[edit]

Zantaz Data Resources is a technology company specializing in data management and optimization. It provides tools for data storage, archiving, access, and analysis, with a focus on supporting data-intensive industries. The company’s products are used to enhance data archiving, compliance, governance, security, and accessibility, enabling organizations to manage data resources effectively.

Company History

[edit]

Enterprise Archive Solution (EAS), previously called Exchange Archive Solution, was originally developed by EDUCOM TS, Inc., an Ottawa-based software development firm. The first release of EAS occurred on March 15, 2000.[1] EAS was sold as commercial software for local installation. EAS was designed to archive content from Microsoft Exchange to help organizations comply with legal requirements for E-mail retention, to reduce storage load of Microsoft Exchange, improve backup, and for .pst file management.

From 2000 to 2004, EDUCOM released multiple versions, gained market share but in 2004 was acquired by Zantaz, Inc.[2] Over the next year, Zantaz added additional functionality, and released updated versions.

In 2005, EAS was being used by more than 2 million users and was mentioned by analyst International Data Corporation. In 2007, Zantaz estimated a thousand customers.[3]

On July 24, 2007, EAS was acquired by Autonomy, Inc. of Cambridge, UK.[4] Shortly after the acquisition for $375M, Autonomy announced that EAS was integrated with Autonomy's IDOL search technology, but Zantaz would function and operate as a standalone business unit within Autonomy.[5]

In 2007, analyst Gartner researched and rated Zantaz and Autonomy's products.[6]

In October of 2011, Autonomy and its products/business units were acquired by HP, Inc. of Palo Alto, CA for $12B.[7]

In 2014, the Autonomy and Zantaz EAS tool owned by HP, Inc. was acquired by Capax Discovery, Inc. of Morristown, NJ.[8]

As of 2016, Zantaz secured the exclusive rights to archiving solutions and functions as a standalone company, separate of Capax, and continues supporting and upgrading EAS alongside other archiving tools, as well as releasing new data management software.[9][10]
