Submergence Under Somasila Dam

[edit]

ellampeta was submerged many years ago due to the construction of the Somasila Dam, a major irrigation project in the region. As a result, the Andhra Pradesh government provided compensation to each household affected by the submergence. The submersion significantly impacted the village, displacing the local community and affecting historical landmarks like the Venu Gopala Swami Temple.

Venu Gopala Swami Temple

[edit]

The Venu Gopala Swami Temple[2] was an important religious site in Yellampeta. However, due to the submergence caused by the Somasila Dam, the temple and other local structures were impacted. Despite its cultural and religious significance, the temple is now submerged.
