Xhemati Alban (Arabic: جماعة الألبان) is a small Sunni Albanian jihadi militant group composed of ethnic Albanian fighters from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, and the Presheva valley which operates in the Syrian civil war in Idlib Governorate/North Aleppo.[2]

History

[edit]

Xhemati Alban claims to have been established in 2012, but reports suggest that the group only started operations in 2017. The group is headed by the ethnic Albanian citizen of North Macedonia, Abu Qatada al-Albani (Abdul Jashari). [3]
