He is the reigning WSSA Overall All-Around Sport Stacking World Champion.[1] Over his 17 year sport stacking career, Orrell has set over 30 WSSA sport stacking world records, won 3 WSSA Overall All-Around World Championship titles, and 6 WSSA Overall All-Around AAU Junior Olympic titles.

Early life

[edit]

William Orrell grew up in Davie County, North Carolina, where he attended Shady Grove Elementary School. At age 8, he learned sport stacking from his physical education teacher Karen Umberger.[2] Orrell was quickly hooked, practicing several hours per day.[3] Since taking on the sport, Orrell has competed in over 70 WSSA sport stacking tournaments worldwide.[4]

YouTube

[edit]

In January 2011, William Orrell started a sport stacking YouTube channel.[5] Over time, he garnered a following of thousands of sport stacking enthusiasts. On his channel, Orrell posted hundreds of videos documenting his personal progression and accomplishments in sport stacking.

Media appearances

[edit]

In the summer of 2012, William Orrell's relay team "Wills & Not Wills" was featured on ESPN SportCenter as the #1 Play of the Week.[6] On March 31, 2016, Orrell was mentioned in The New York Times at the top of an article titled "Cup Stacking: A Sport Whose Growth Runneth Over."[7] Also in 2016, Orrell starred in an NBA League Pass commercial with LeBron James.[8]

In addition, Orrell's records were featured in the Guinness World Records Book in 2016[9], 2017[10], 2018[11], and 2024.[12]
