Whitehouse is an American dynastic family involved in politics, diplomacy, and religious leadership.
Members
[edit]Henry John Whitehouse (1803–1874) was the second Episcopal Bishop of Illinois.
Many of his descendants were prominent in New York society including his grandson Edwin Sheldon Whitehouse (1883–1965), who spent his career in the United States foreign service as the US Minister to Colombia. Worthington Whitehouse (1864–1922) was also a member of the family.
Edwin Whitehouse's son Charles Sheldon Whitehouse was US Ambassador to Laos and Thailand.[1]
Charles' son and Edwin's grandson Sheldon Whitehouse (born 1955) is a US senator from Rhode Island.[2]
