Whether, I is a post-hardcore band from Houston, Texas formed in 2013. The band has released a studio album, entitled Catalyst, in 2014, and an EP, entitled Dreamcatcher, in late 2013, which was re-released by InVogue Records in April 2014.

History

[edit]

Whether, I was founded in 2013 by singers Kaleb Eddy and Joshua Calhoun, as well as guitarists Andrei Restrepo and Jordan Sweeny, bassist Todd Lenting and drummer Jonathan Amaya.

In February 2014, the group was signed by InVogue Records[1] and the EP Dreamcatcher was re-released.  The re-released version of the EP contains two bonus tracks. The EP was recorded and produced by Tom Denney, who has worked with For the Fallen Dreams, Secrets, and A Day to Remember. Denney served as guitarist on the latter.

Whether, I's first tour was between July 12 and July 29, 2014, as the opening act for Restless Streets[2]. Between November 28, 2014, and December 14, 2014, the band toured the United States with For All I Am and Until We Are Ghosts as the opening act for Famous Last Words as part of the InVogue Records Tour. Kingdom Of Giants were originally scheduled to open the tour, but were later replaced by Until We Are Ghosts.[3]

In 2013, the group recorded their debut EP Dreamcatcher, which was released in December 2013 and re-released in April 2024. The eponymous track, Dreamcatcher, on the EP, which featured Richard Rogers, has nearly 2 million plays as of mid-2024.

In December 2014, the debut album Catalyst was released via InVogue Records. A track on the album entitled Gemini, which featured Jonny Craig, has amassed over 4.1 million plays since its release.

Whether, I disbanded in early 2016. However, to the excitement of their fans, both original vocalists, Kaleb Eddy and Joshua Calhoun, have returned in 2021 with new tracks that progress their sound without moving too far away from the roots of the project.
