Web novels in China are known as wǎngwén (网文, “web literature”). China produces and consumes the largest amount of web fiction in the world, with an estimated 20 million web novel writers and 502 million readers. The web novel industry in China is estimated to be worth 28.8 billion yuan ($4.4 billion) and has over 26 million published titles.[1] Popular Chinese web novel genres include wuxia, xianxia, science fiction, and danmei.
