The War of the Babenberg Succession was a conflict that occurred in the mid-13th century (1246-1278) in Central Europe, specifically in the regions that are now part of Austria and surrounding areas. The war was triggered by the extinction of the Babenberg dynasty, which had ruled Austria since the 10th century.
