Vimm's Lair is an online website that provides ROMs of retro video games, emulators, and manuals for them. They contain all classic games from 28 consoles, including N64, Sega Saturn, PlayStation 1, and Atari 260. They are meant to preserve old video games when the game companies that distribute these games no longer sell them.[1]
History
[edit]Vimm's Lair was founded in 1997.[2]
In 2024, Apple released emulators for retro Nintendo games, which caused an influx of users for Vimm's Lair.
In June 6th of the same year, Vimm's Lair is forced to remove a lot of their ROMs from Nintendo, SEGA, Lego, and ESA to prevent piracy; most of them are of the US and European servers.[3][4][5]
