With over 50 years of experience, Dr. Verma is regarded as one of India's leading experts on Hindi language teaching, foreign language pedagogy, Hindi of the Indian diaspora and cultural diplomacy. He is an accomplished translator, and a highly sought-after keynote speaker at international conferences and events..[1].
Dr. Verma's contributions to Hindi language teaching, especially for foreign learners, are significant. He is known for pioneering Hindi language teaching programs at several prestigious institutions globally and has trained thousands of students worldwide. His work in lexicography and translation studies are groundbreaking, and his Bulgarian-Hindi Dictionary and Learner’s Hindi-English Thematic Visual Dictionary are recognised as milestone works. In 1968, Dr. Verma earned a M.Litt in Linguistics from Delhi University, focusing his thesis on *Hindi Numeral: A Generative Model, under the supervision of Prof. P.B. Pandit, Head of the Department of Linguistics. His academic qualifications also include a Sahitya Ratna from the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Prayag, a Diploma in Tamil from the U.P. Government, and Proficiency Certificates in German and Bulgarian languages.
