Vimala Rani Britto (born 15 September 1966) is an Indian entrepreneur, media mogul, and educationalist known for her work in logistics, education, and social impact. Vimala Rani Britto is the Director of Kerry Indev Logistics, the Correspondent of the St Britto's Group of Institutions, Co-founder of Premier Futsal, and Founder of the ed-tech firm Vkan-v Solutions and the NGO Seek Foundation. She is also a mentor to the Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association. In 2022, she launched the FEFDY Curriculum, a contemporary learning platform for schools and home education.
Early Life
[edit]Vimala Rani Britto was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, into a Tamil Christian family. Her father, a teacher, significantly influenced her educational pursuits. She graduated from Fathima College, Madurai, and in 1989, at the age of 19, she married Xavier Britto of Chennai.
Career
[edit]Vimala Rani Britto co-founded the St. Britto's Group of Institutions in 1997 and currently serves as its secretary and correspondent. She also plays key roles in various enterprises, including Kerry Indev Logistics, Esthell Homes, Esthell Entertainers, Esthell Hotels & Resorts, and Premier Futsal. She is the founder and chairperson of VKan-V Solutions, an ed-tech company that developed the FEFDY Curriculum, aimed at providing a balanced, global approach to education.
FEFDY Curriculum
[edit]The FEFDY Curriculum (Futuristic Education Facilitating Dynamic Young gen) is a holistic educational program developed by Vimala Rani Britto, integrating international methodologies with traditional values. It emphasizes self-identity, empathy, respect, and social awareness, aiming to prepare students for both personal and professional life. Beyond academics, it promotes global responsibility and cultural appreciation.
Seek Foundation
[edit]Vimala Rani Britto established the Seek Foundation to support underprivileged communities, women, and children through educational programs, community outreach, and social services. Seek Foundation provides free remedial classes, specialized support for dyslexic students, and life skills training. It has also adopted 21 villages in Kancheepuram District, working toward self-sustainability through healthcare, sanitation, and vocational training. The foundation is also known for organizing Womanathon, a national run advocating for women's safety on International Women’s Day.
Womanathon
[edit]Womanathon, a nationwide marathon organized by Seek Foundation.[1], was launched to celebrate and advocate for women’s safety and respect. Held annually on International Women’s Day, the event promotes solidarity and aims to raise awareness around issues affecting women’s safety and empowerment.
Season 1 (2015)
[edit]The inaugural Womanathon took place on 9 March 2015[2] across Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Participants dedicated their runs to women’s causes, supporting Seek Foundation’s mission to empower women through education and rights awareness. Proceeds from the event contributed to the foundation’s programs focused on women’s safety and development.
Season 2 (2016)
[edit]The second Womanathon expanded in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with the event in Chennai flagged off by actor Vishal[3] at the YMCA Grounds. Participants ran for various causes, from celebrating motherhood to supporting women’s health. Proceeds went towards Seek Foundation’s educational and healthcare initiatives for women and girls, with plans to expand Womanathon to more cities in the coming years.
Premier Futsal
[edit]Premier Futsal is an international futsal league co-founded by Vimala Rani Britto, aimed at providing opportunities for young talent in India and popularizing futsal as a sport. Launched with cricket star Virat Kohli[4] as a stakeholder and brand ambassador and football legend Luis Figo as president, the league held its first season from 15 to 24 July 2016 in Chennai and Goa, in partnership with Sony[5], ESPN, Sony SIX, and Sony Aath. The league anthem was composed by music maestro A.R. Rahman[6]
The inaugural season featured prominent international players, including Ronaldinho, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Michel Salgado, marking it as a significant event in Indian sports. Premier Futsal also conducts talent hunts at colleges across India to scout and train young Indian players, aiming to hold the tournament biannually with a mix of national and international talent.
St. Britto's Group of Institutions
[edit]Under the leadership of Vimala Rani Britto, St. Britto’s Group of Institutions has received national recognition for its contributions to education and social responsibility. On 27 February 2018, St. Britto’s Academy set an Asia Book of Records[7] achievement for organizing the largest human formation of students symbolizing the message "Save Water to Save Earth." This initiative involved 425 students, aged 7 to 10, who created hand formations representing the planet to promote environmental awareness and the importance of water conservation.
As part of fostering international cultural connections, Vimala Rani Britto, along with St. Britto's College Principal Thamas Ponraj and Indian Futsal CEO Dinesh Raj, met with Dr. Chien-jen Chen, Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), on 19 January 2017[8]. This delegation marked a cultural exchange program aimed at strengthening educational and cultural ties between India and Taiwan.
Esthell Entertainers
[edit]Vimala Rani Britto founded St. Britto's Theatre Academy under Esthell Entertainers to promote Indian theater and cultural heritage among youth. Notable productions include Raja Perigai[9][10], which portrays India’s pre-independence history and themes of unity, and Wings of Love, focused on compassion and social harmony. These performances received acclaim from audiences and industry professionals alike.
In addition to theater, Esthell Entertainers has produced popular television series and films. The television serial Neethane Enthan Ponvasantham, aired on Zee Tamil, won the Best Serial award at the 2020 Zee Tamil Kudumba Viruthugal. Another popular series, Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal, is also produced by Esthell Entertainers. Expanding into film, Esthell Entertainers released the small-budget movie Azhagiya Kanne in June 2023.
Esthell Hotels & Resorts
[edit]Vimala Rani Britto oversees Esthell Hotels & Resorts,[cite1] including Esthell - The Village Resort in Thirukazhukundram. The resort emphasizes eco-friendly practices, retaining over 4,000 trees on its premises while developing modern facilities for visitors.[11]
Esthell Homes and Real Estate Ventures
[edit]The Esthell Group has also expanded into real estate under Vimala Rani Britto’s direction, launching projects like Esthell Golden Square, a residential complex, and Esthell Paragon Mall, a shopping and entertainment hub.[citation needed]
Personal Life
[edit]In their early marriage, Vimala Rani Britto and her husband co-founded Kerry Indev Logistics with an initial investment of ₹10,000. Despite initial financial challenges, the venture evolved into a leading logistics company. After a decade of difficulty in starting a family, Vimala Rani Britto had a daughter, Sneha, and a son, Mitchell.[citation needed]
