Vietnam v China was a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match played on 1 February 2022 in My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, noteworthy in that the surprise result caused deep dissatisfaction and hooliganism among mainland Chinese football fans. In China as well as the East Asian world, the match was dubbed the Disaster of Hanoi (Chinese: 河内灾难), as the Chinese suffered a denting loss that results of eliminated out of the World Cup 2022. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the match has been significant due to its influence on the future development of Vietnamese football and is remembered as the Miracle of Hanoi on Lunar New Year (Vietnamese: Điều kỳ diệu ở Hà Nội vào Tết Nguyên Đán). The match has been very deep-rooted in Vietnamese society and is still often referred to by Vietnamese fans and press to cheer themselves up against opponents from the East Asian. It also let Vietnam became the first Southeast Asian Nation that have a win in the Final Round ever.

The Vietnam War, along with subsequent conflicts after 1975 against the Khmer Rouge and China, resulted in a crippling economic downturn. Football development was severely stunted as a result of these wars, as well as international sanctions and isolation. However, economic reforms in 1986 marked Vietnam's return to the international stage and their reappearance in international football.

China were qualified for the Final Round and expected to be by far to qualified to the 2022 edition for the first time since 2002 edition. China and Vietnam had met earlier in the tournament, playing out a 3–2 victory in Sharjah Stadium, UAE. They entered the match tied on points; however, Vietnam was already eliminated from the World Cup after lost 0–4 away in Melbourne, Australia. While after losing to Japan in Saitama, China have to beat Vietnam to keep the hope to qualified for the World Cup.

Despite already losing the ticket to the finals, the Vietnamese were still determined to redeem themselves as well as to earn their first points when entering the game at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, also the first team in Southeast Asia have a win in the final round. This victory also let Vietnam first beat China ever since 1991.

China, after this lost, they were officially eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They managed to have one point after Saudi Arabia and Oman.
