Victor R. Lee is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]He completed his bachelor's degree at UC San Diego, specializing in cognitive science, human-computer interaction, and mathematics.[2] He attained his Ph.D. in Learning Sciences from Northwestern University.[1]
Career
[edit]Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford University, he was assistant and associate professor at Utah State University in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.[4] He has received the National Science Foundation CAREER award, the Jan Hawkins Award, a post-doctoral fellowship from the National Academy of Education and the Spencer Foundation among others.[3][2]
His primary research areas include statistics and data science education both in and outside of K-12 schools.[5][1]. His research also documented that contrary to popular assumptions, the amount of cheating among high school students in the United States did not increase immediately after the release of ChatGPT [6].
Publications
[edit]He has edited two academic compilations, Learning Technologies and the Body: Integration and Implementation in Formal and Informal Environments and (with Abigail Phillips) Reconceptualizing Libraries: Perspectives from the Information and Learning Sciences.[7][8] He is a co-author of the National Research Council's report Cultivating Interest and Competencies in Computing: Authentic Experiences and Design Factors.[9]
Professional affiliations
[edit]Lee is a past-president of the International Society of the Learning Sciences.[3][10]
