Early Life and Education

[edit]

Peluso was born around 1971 and raised in upstate New York, where her father was an environmental engineering executive, and her grandparents were innkeepers in the Hamptons.[1] She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and later attended Pembroke College, Oxford, where she completed a graduate degree in philosophy, politics, and economics.[2]

Career

[edit]

Peluso’s early career included positions as a financial analyst for Citibank in Senegal and a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group from 1995 to 1998. She was awarded a White House Fellowship in 1998, where she served as a senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Alexis Herman.[3]

Site59 and Travelocity

[edit]

In 1999, Peluso founded Site59, a last-minute travel deal website, serving as its CEO. The name “Site59” referred to deals available at the "fifty-ninth minute," or just before travel. In 2002, Travelocity acquired Site59 for $43 million, bringing Peluso into Travelocity’s executive team as Senior Vice President for Product Strategy and Distribution.[4] She advanced to COO in 2003 and then became CEO and President later that year.[5]

At Travelocity, Peluso was instrumental in launching the "merchant model" business strategy, allowing the company to secure direct deals with hotels. This strategy signed on thousands of hotels in its first year, leading to a successful rebranding campaign that included the popular "Travelocity gnome" mascot.[6]

Citigroup

[edit]

After her tenure at Travelocity, Peluso joined Citigroup as Chief Consumer Marketing and Internet Officer. She led the bank’s consumer marketing and digital transformation efforts.[7]

Gilt Groupe

[edit]

Peluso became the CEO of Gilt Groupe, an online shopping platform offering luxury fashion deals. During her tenure, she led the company's growth and expansion in the e-commerce sector.[8]

IBM

[edit]

Peluso was recruited to IBM as Senior Vice President of Digital Sales and Chief Marketing Officer, where she was responsible for brand strategy, digital sales, and transforming IBM's customer experience.[9]

CVS Health

[edit]

In her role as Executive Vice President and Chief Customer and Experience Officer at CVS Health, Peluso led initiatives to improve consumer experience and accelerate CVS's digital strategy.[10]

Revlon

[edit]

In October 2024, Peluso was appointed CEO of Revlon, a leading beauty brand, and will assume the role in November 2024.[11]

Awards and Recognition

[edit]

Peluso was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 for her role with Site59. She has been recognized for her leadership and strategic vision throughout her career.[12]
