History

[edit]

Oscar-winning producer John Battsek exited Passion Pictures after a 20-year run to launch LA and London-based Ventureland[13] with Kerstin Emhoff, Ali Brown, and director Paul Hunter of music video and commercial production company Prettybird. Battsek and Emhoff have previously teamed up to produce Emmy-winning projects Manhunt: The Inside Story Of The Hunt For Bin Laden and The Tillman Story, as well as The Final Year, Sergio and Legion Of Brothers.

In 2023, Ventureland entered a first-look partnership with independent studio A24 for documentary projects[14]. The two companies collaborated on freediving Netflix documentary The Deepest Breath, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival[15].

In 2024, Ventureland created the short film This is My Dad, Doug that played during the Democratic National Convention. The film was made by The Second Gentleman's son, Cole Emhoff, and produced by Kerstin Emhoff[16].
