Draft:Venezuelan English Creole

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Venezuelan English Creole (or Inglis Criollo Venezolano) is a broad term encompassing various Caribbean English dialects and creoles spoken in Venezuela. They are descended from various English dialects and creoles bought over by Anglo-Caribbean immigrants who immigrated to Venezuela in the 19th and 20th centuries, namely to work in the country's (formerly) booming oil industry. Immigrants to Venezuela from the French Caribbean and the Dutch Caribbean (namely from the Papiamento-speaking ABC islands) have also made contributions to the language. It is not known how many speakers of these creoles/dialects are left today.
