Valossa (Valossa Labs Oy) is an artificial intelligence company, specializing in multimodal AI for the automatization of video-related tasks.[1][2][3] The company was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Oulu, Finland.[4]
Dr. Mika Rautiainen, a computer vision and AI expert, is the CEO of Valossa. He is also one of the founders of the company, and an alumni of the University of Oulu.[5]
The video AI products of Valossa provide features such as video-to-text descriptions and speech-to-text (for captioning, subtitling, translation, media content logging),[6] ad placement[7] as well as content repurposing using an automatic video clipping AI tool.[8]
Venture capital companies and business angels invested in Valossa include 01 Ventures, Butterfly Ventures, Reaktor Ventures and Jari Ovaskainen. [9][10]
In 2024, Valossa received a grant for the research and development work towards an AI tool targeted to fit the needs of the video production industry.[11]
In 2018, Valossa won the first place in the Media Honeypot 2018 Pitching Competition organized as part of a media startup business event[12] and was picked to the Gartner list of Cool Vendors.[13]
