- Comment: We have certain standards for the sources that you can use in an article. While I would personally use the The Guardian source, there are problems with the rest of your sources. Urban Dictionary is not a reliable source because it's user-generated content (see here). Marnie Kunz's article is from a blog. She apparently is a running coach, which gives her some credibility, but per WP:BLOG, it's not really the best thing to use as a source. The Denver by Foot thing is also a blog. The myurbanhike.com website doesn't look bad as a source, though there are better options available. Don't give up on this; this concept has potential, but I would suggest reading more deeply into WP:RS before continuing. Relativity 03:03, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
An urban hike is an outdoor activity that consists of walking long distances in an urbanized environment[1]. Like hiking participants are driven by a sense of adventure and exploration[2]. An urban hike my include walking through parks, gardens, coastal areas, city streets, paths, trails, or hidden parts of a city[3].
Some commentators have pointed to the socio-economic differences between an urban hike and a regular hike[4]. A person undertaking an urban hike does not require special hiking apparel or accessories. They will also generally use public transport to get to their starting point. This makes urban hiking available to a much wider cross section of society.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, urban hiking increased in popularity as people sought out new activities close to where they live. Groups were formed in urban areas to connect people and share experiences [5].
