The University College Student Representatives of the Netherlands (UCSRN) is the national student representative body for 10 University Colleges in the Netherlands. It serves as a link between more than 5200 University College students in the Netherlands. It provides a platform for collaboration and discussion between students uniting over several yearly academic and social events. It advocates for recognising Liberal Arts and Science education within higher education and the professional realm.[2] It was founded in 2015 by students and is dedicated to enhancing students' experience and efficacy across University Colleges (UCs). As a covenant party of the Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg (ISO), the UCSRN lobbies on a national level for the interests and concerns of its members expressed in its committees on inter-UC events and by direct request.
Aside from its educational goals, the UCSRN plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of community and shared learning among students by providing financial support for inter-UC events. These events, which include TEDx talks, Model United Nations, career events, and sports and arts competitions, offer students the opportunity to compete, collaborate, learn, and celebrate together.
History
[edit]The initial members are AUCSA (Amsterdam University College), UCSA (University College Utrecht), RASA (University College Roosevelt), Fortuna (Leiden University College The Hague) and Universalis (University College Maastricht). After the official creation in 2015, Caerus (University College Groningen) and Atlantis (University College Twente) joined. In 2017, Extra Muros (University College Tilburg) joined. In 2021, Nobis Cura Futuri (Campus Fryslân) joined.[3]

Organisational Structure
[edit]The UCSRN is composed of five bodies. The General Assembly comprises 60 student representatives (10 members x 6 delegates) from the member colleges. The Executive Board, elected annually, represents all members and coordinates exchange and collaboration activities. There are also the Academic and Social Committees comprised of delegates from the colleges, which address common interests, resolve problems, and organize collaborations. An independent body oversees the work of the Executive Board, ensures compliance with the statutes and policy manual, conducts financial audits, and serves as an appeals court to resolve disputes within the UCSRN.[1]
Partners
[edit]As a covenant partner of ISO and as part of the coalitie-Y denktank, the UCSRN seeks to establish a credible presence in Dutch education policy discussions and become recognised as a significant student organisation. Contact with the Deans Network and with ECOLAS helps to improve LAS education at all the member colleges.
