Tyroe Muhafidin (born 30 January 2005) is an Australian actor.[1] and singer. He is best known for his role as Theo in season 1 of the Amazon Prime series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022–). He previously appeared in the Australian short film Dusk (2018) and in the TV miniseries Caravan (2019).

Early life

Muhafidin grew up in Perth, Western Australia. His father, Afid Muhafidin, was born in Indonesia, while his mother Rachel is Australian. He has two brothers, Tobias and Jiddan, and a sister, Jachinta[2].

He attended John Curtin College of the Arts in Fremantle, WA[3]

Career

Actor

After a few attempts at starting his acting career through talent agencies, Muhafidin landed his first gig in 2016 when he appeared in the music video Ether by Australian metalcore band Make Them Suffer. In 2018, he was cast in lead roles in the short films Dusk by Australian director Ain Khan and Treasure Maps and Tinned Spaghetti by Tim Green. In 2019, Tyroe appeared in the TV miniseries Caravan.

Muhafadin's breakthrough came in 2020, when he was cast as Theo in J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay's production of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for Amazon Prime Video. Season 1 of the show aired in 2022, and gave Tyroe worldwide celebrity.

Singer

Muhafadin is also a singer and music creator. In 2022, under the name of Tyroe, he released his first single In Honesty (It's Cold Outside) through various platforms, including Triple J Unearthed and Spotify. His first EP is due to be released in November 2024.[3]
