Trinity Anglican Church (also known as Bishop Strachan Memorial Church) is an historic Anglican Church located in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. The original congregation was founded in 1784 when Loyalists settled the area, but a permanent church was not built on the current location until 1806 with the arrival of future bishop John Strachan in 1803. The original wooden Georgian style church was reconstructed in the neo-Gothic style in 1869 and was dedicated to the same John Strachan after his death in 1867.[1] The church currently maintains a regular worship schedule and is home to local community programs and organizations, such as Centre 105[2], the Tri-County Literacy Council, and Beek Lindsay Seniors Residences[3]. The historic churchyard dates back to the founding of Cornwall, the last burial occurring in 1876.

Trinity Church maintains two historic cemeteries.
Trinity Church Graveyard[edit]
The due the City of Cornwall's status as one of the oldest municipalities in the Province of Ontario[4] and the Church of England's status as the Established Church at the time of its founding, Trinity Church Graveyard is considered to be one of the oldest in Eastern Ontario.[5] The first burials began with the settlement in the 1780s and the cemetery was finally closed to new burials in 1876.[6]
Maple Grove Cemetery[edit]
Maple Grove Cemetery is an active cemetery located on the western edge of Cornwall, Ontario. The cemetery was originally established in the late 18th Century in the village of Maple Grove, and later submerged during the creation of the Saint Lawrence Seaway in 1958. Before the flooding that summer, the local community spent nearly two months relocating all the remains to the current location.[7] [8]
