- Comment: We need reviews from mainstream, professional sources to show notability via WP:NBOOK. asilvering (talk) 19:16, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Need additional in-depth reviews of the book and the draft should summarize what those reviews and other secondary sources have written about the book. S0091 (talk) 16:05, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

The book Thrive: Long-term Wilderness Survival Guide authored by Juan Pablo Quiñonez, winner of Season 9 of the TV series Alone, is a survival guide published in the year 2022.[1][2] Although Thrive was released shortly after Juan Pablo finished his stint in the series Alone, he started writing the book in 2020.[3]
The illustrated handbook focuses on wilderness survival for prolonged periods of time, spans over 15 sections, and includes a list of bibliographical references and an index.[4][5] The subjects discussed in the handbook have been categorized as wilderness survival and "outdoor life".[6]
Overview
[edit]The book is marketed towards people interested in survivalism and emergency preparedness, and contains information related to wilderness living and hunting-gathering.[7] It combines the style of traditional line drawings like older books on these subjects and also photographs of equipment and plants. [4] The contents of the survival guide are based on literary research and the author's personal experiences.[8][3]
The author states in the introduction that the handbook is "not for for beginners"; nonetheless, the basics such as food, water, and shelter are included.[2] Although the book is centered around how-to sections and practical aspects of survival, philosophies and approaches to nature are also discussed.[1] It has 481 pages containing drawings, images, and charts, and its contents are detailed, comprehensive, and well organized.[4] A refreshing feature of the book is the in-depth coverage of psychological preparation and "the survivor's mindset".[4][2]
An explorer has described the book as "a great balance of literary research".[3] Survival experts Jordan Jonas and Clay Hayes, past winners of the series Alone, recommend the book to anyone interested in survival.[9]
