Thomas J. Hastings is a real estate developer and the founder of Hastings Companies, known for a focus on environmentally conscious and community-oriented developments.[1]

Early Life

Hastings was born on February 12, 1952 and was raised in Huntington Beach, California. He attended Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. He moved to Hingham, MA in the late 70s.

Business Career

In 1972, he founded Hastings Companies,[2] a real estate development company. Notable projects include:

  • Oceanwoods, a luxury townhouse community designed for empty nesters featuring Victorian and Nantucket- inspired cottages next to the Kingston bay.[3] Oceanwoods was featured on the cover of BUILDER Magazine.[4]
  • Leisurewoods in Rockland, MA is a retirement community for people 55 and older featuring affordable, manufactured homes. It contains 415 single family homes on a 90-acre site.[5] Leisurewoods received two National Sales Awards and a Builders Association of Greater Boston award for excellence in landscape design. Leisurewoods has been featured in numerous different news and magazines.[6][7]
  • Leisurewoods at Taunton, MA is situated on a 100-acre site consisting of a clubhouse targeted to the seniors market with 222 homes sites between Boston and Providence, RI.

Hastings Companies has won the most prestigious award in the home building industry, awarded at the Annual International Builder's show for Backriver Townhomes in Hingham, MA.[8][9]

Tech Career

Techhatch.com[10] was founded by Hastings in 1998. Over the last 15 years, Techhatch.com has acquired a portfolio of thousands of domain names.
