“The White Line was a shipping company founded in 1880. The shipping line was very popular from 1890-1900s, their fleet was well maintained until the outbreak of the first world war, where they lost 5 ships. The company managed to survive through the great depression, aside its competitor, Toney Line. In the second world war, the shipping line lost half of its fleet. Due to its financial struggles, the shipping company ultimately merged with its long time competitor Tony Line, forming White-Toney Line. By 1980, the name was reverted to Toney Line, retiring the White Line brand.
