The Network (stylized as network) is an American ad-supported video on-demand (AVOD) over-the-top streaming media service owned and operated by The Boathouse through its BH Media Holdings subsidiary. The Network primarily airs original TV series and positions itself as a "premium" service akin to its linear and streaming competitors. Registration is required to view The Network's programming, but there are no subscription fees.
The Network officially launched in the United States on April 30, 2024 with 2 original TV shows The Green Veil and Chivalry.
Background
[edit]The Network platform was created by Aram Rappaport, founder of the creative advertising agency The Boathouse with backing from BH Media Holdings. The service initially released two originals at a time: dramas on Tuesdays and comedies on Thursdays.[citation needed]
Aram Rappaport further explained that The Network “seeks to declutter the streaming experience, eliminating audiences’ endless scrolling to find appealing series and films” and is “built on the principle ‘Always Originals, Always Free.'”[citation needed]
Rappaport also said of the streaming service, “The Network is providing a solution for consumers that feel overwhelmed by the excess of unnecessary content. The service is an opportunity to bring a curated catalog to U.S. audiences who want to eliminate the scrolling fatigue of subscription services. We are not justifying monthly fees by holding droves of content consumers get lost in. In fact, we never want you to search our platform, let us come to you. When there’s a new show launching – we’ll let you know.”[1]
Availability and Device support
[edit]The Network is currently available for streaming via web browsers on Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as apps on iOS and Apple TV, Android and Android TV, Fire TV and Fire HD, as well as Roku devices.[citation needed]
