Honesty is the best policy which has very few followers in these times of hypocrisy, dishonesty and materialism, because the path of honesty is full of thorns and hurdles, yet there are some people who follow the commands of their conscience for it gives them peace and solace."The Last Candidate" is a story of a man (Hayat Ali Khan) who is honest to the core and always stands by the side of justice; merit and competence come what way. His wife (Parveen) and son (Osman) being materialistic do not approve of Mr. Khan's policy of honesty. Parveen wants her husband to appoint their son in the state finance department by favoring him unduly, but Khan refuses. Parveen approaches her influential brother, Maqbool (Mamu), for her son, Osman.
