The International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE) is a globally recognized organization which offers certifications for computer examiners.[1] Established in 2002,[2] ISFCE offers the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification,[3][4] promoting professionalism, ethical practices, and technical proficiency among digital forensic examiners.[5][6][7]
History
[edit]Mellon founded the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE) in 2002. Under his leadership, the Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification was introduced. The ISFCE is led by its CEO, Tino Kyprianou,[5][8]
Certification programs
[edit]The Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) certification[9] is a vendor-neutral credential that validates an examiner's competency in digital forensics.[10][11] The certification process includes a rigorous testing procedure encompassing both written and practical examinations.[12][13]
Supporting the leadership is an Advisory Board, composed of a diverse group of forensic experts from academia, law enforcement, and industry including Sheryl Falk who has served on the board of the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners.[14]
Since its inception, ISFCE has certified many individuals across numerous countries, establishing itself as a prerequisite certification for digital forensic examiners recognized by industry professionals and academic institutions alike.[15]
Accreditation
[edit]The International Society of Computer Forensic Examiners (ISFCE) is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) for Proficiency Testing in digital evidence handling, in compliance with the ISO/IEC 17043:2023 standard. This accreditation enables ISFCE to conduct proficiency testing to assess the competency of forensic analysts and the reliability of forensic processes within forensic laboratories, law enforcement agencies, and government institutions.[16]
