Obed Awontirim Azeka (born September 20, 2001), known professionally as The Empiire, is an Actor, a Gospel singer, rapper, songwriter, scriptwriter, the founder and C.E.O of Epic Empiire Studios. He was born in the city of Tamale where he was raised by his parents. His first official movie called The Hunt was released on YouTube by his own growing movie company Epic Empiire Studios in partnership with Cinematic Youth Production.

Early Life

The Empiire as a little kid, developed the love for airplanes. His parents bought a lot of toys for him with a number of them being airplanes. He made up his mind at the age of 6 to become a pilot in the future but that all changed when he turned 11. He changed his future ambitions of being a pilot into being an astronaut. He loved the solar system so much that he could memorize articles on Solar System and each of it's planets. He dreamt of working as an astronaut in NASA. Right before his high school studies, he was inspired to become an actor by Candice Patton and so he decided that he would be an astronaut as his primary occupation and an actor as his secondary occupation. Things took a deep turn in his life when he was about to study in high school. His desired program which was Science was unexpectedly changed to General Arts with one major reason of him knowing and loving the French language. With this sudden change, he became confused on worried as to which future occupation he could later venture because it looked as it his main future dream was erased. He did not give up. As time passed, his love for acting and filming grew stronger.

Education

He began his studies at FACHI "Little Flower" School Complex Ltd from 2004-2006. On September 2, 2006, he studied at Faith Hill Community School until September 2011 where he studied at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Tamale and on September 14, 2013, he studied at Abe Halperin School Complex where he was a cadet commander and the class captain from JHS 2 Level to JHS 3 Level and later wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination. He spent his Senior High School days in St. Charles Minor Seminary Senior High School also in Tamale from 2016-2019 and continued his education at a higher level at Ghana Baptist University College in Kumasi from 2019-2023.

Career

After completing Senior High School, Obed started his ''One Man'' production company called Epic Empiire Studios from scratch before he went to the University. With his passion for acting, he watched a lot movies not just for entertainment but as a way to observe, learn and practice how actors performed in films, their right facial expressions in a particular moment, how the actors connected themselves to the characters they portrayed and how scenes were shot including camera angels and attention to details. Movies like The Fast and Furious, CW's The Flash, The Karate Kid, Uncharted (2022), were his favorite movies and he memorize the entire lines of the Karate Kid within 3 days. With a bit of knowledge, he decided to shoot scenes and edited them all on his own. He created his Epic Empiire Videos channel on YouTube in 2021 where he posted his works and acting videos. After graduating the university in 2023, he later met a growing movie production crew called Cinematic Youth Productions on one of his video shoots and in a month time collaborated with them to shoot a movie but it was later cancelled due to some issues. After their first project failed, The Empiire thought it wise not to give up. He came up with the idea of another movie called The Hunt where he teamed up with Lexes Osmond Gambase, the leader and Executive Director of Cinematic Youth Productions to work on it. The project was a success and on October 1, 2024, The Hunt was released on The Epic Empiire Studios YouTube channel and was well received by the local audience. It performed better than they expected taking them being a growing film company. Obed and Lexes became partners after that. A month after the release of their first successful movie, The Empiire was employed to work at GPHA while he was at then working on another movie called Crossfire with his partner Lexes Osmond who is the original creator of the Crossfire movie.

Music

Music was always a part of The Empiire. He started off with music in 2015, years before he started shooting scenes, skits and movies in 2019 onwards. Similar to his movie days, he had no one to help record his music and had no money to go to a professional studio and so he decided to record his music with whatever equipment he had. He started by using the video camera feature on an android tablet and then convert the videos into an audio but obviously, the quality of his music was low and sounded unprofessional. He also used MixPad Multitrack Recording Software for Windows to edit his music. He later started recording his music at Obey Studios, a professional music studio in Tamale.
