The Chronicles of Umro Ayyar is an upcoming Pakistani Urdu-language animated adventure film directed by Haris Basharat and Syed Arsalan Ali and written by Zafar Abdullah, BinMasood Farid, and Talha Abdur Rahim, produced by Waseem Shareef. The film is based on the Persian-Urdu novel character Umro Ayyar from Hamzanama.[1]

Production
[edit]The film adapts the rich tradition of Talisman-e-Hosh Ruba, an epic tale from Persian and Indo-Pakistani folklore, bringing it to life through animation. On 31 December 2021, the film was announced on YouTube with the first teaser.[2] The cast features Afraz Rasool as the voice of Umro Ayyar. The production is handled by Ingenuity Productions.[3]
The film debuted at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered attention for its unique blend of folklore and animation.[4][5]
