The Blazing Musket (formerly The Bent Musket) ^[1] was founded in March of 2011. The website was founded by Steve Stoehr and was a part of SB Nation's soccer division.

The website began covering the New England Revolution and eventually branched out its coverage to covering women's soccer, the United States national teams and other teams throughout New England.

On January 20, 2022, SB Nation announced that it would be defunding many of its MLS websites ^[2]. This included The Bent Musket ^[3].

On January 30, 2022, the website rebranded to The Blazing Musket ^[4]. The rebranding saw the site expand its coverage to the USL Championship's Hartford Athletic and Rhode Island FC, USL League One's Portland Hearts of Pine, USL League Two's Seacoast United, Vermont Green FC, and Western Mass Pioneers. The website also covers BOS Nation FC and Revolution II.
