Takahiro Miyazawa (born 19XX) is a Japanese indie game developer. He has opened his own personal website, "SKT products," and has published several browser games. His representative works include "Moai Mawashi" and "Hikkoshi Bugyo." He also goes by the handle name Takahiro.
History
[edit]He entered the Design Department at Osaka University of Arts . In his third year of university, he created games and websites as a hobby, and was active on his personal website "Seikantai". While he was still in university, he started receiving job offers, and established his personal website "SKT products". Seikantai means "to continue to create only what makes me feel good", and SKT is an abbreviation of Seikantai . He started making games as a job around the end of his student days, around the time of "Zannenuchi" in 2001, and since then, he has continued to make games in Osaka Prefecture , receiving requests from clients mainly in Tokyo . After graduating from university, he also worked as a systems engineer for a bank , but resigned after six months .
His first freelance work was "GOKI DASH" for Adobe Shockwave . After leaving the company , he worked part-time at a post office while developing games, and produced "Nobuyuki Gundan 3" . Around this time, he expanded his network by publishing his works on "BROAD STAR" (later known as "BROSTA TV", a creator discovery program) as a way to promote himself .
Following "Moai Mawashi," he created "Moai no Su," which won the Excellence Award in the Indies category of the Japan Game Awards in 2006. The unique movements of the moai statues that appear and the settings of each stage were highly praised for their impact and sense of speed . In 2019, "Iseki Climber" won the Grand Prize in the Entertainment (Industrial Application) category at the Asia Digital Art Awards Fukuoka .
Style
[edit]Rather than extraordinary themes such as globetrotting adventures, he prefers everyday themes such as the interior of a private home or a crowded train, and many of his works feature these themes . As computers and the Internet became widespread in elementary schools and began to become popular among children, he consciously refrained from using grotesque expressions in his later works .
Works
[edit]- Distractions
- It was created in 2001. Version 2, which supports multiple alphabet input methods, was released in 2002. It is the oldest work released on SKT products .
- This is a typing game that aims to clear the minds of passengers on crowded trains . Miyazawa chose a crowded train as the setting for the game, as he felt stressed by being a student himself .
- GOKI DASH
- Set in a private home, the game involves controlling a cockroach and trying to avoid getting caught in a trap . It was Miyazawa's first job as a freelancer. The inclusion of a cockroach drew criticism, and the design was changed to a more deformed one .
- Nobuyuki Corps
- This is a shooting game in which the player controls a protagonist who aims to destroy a terrorist organization, hiding in the shadows and infiltrating the terrorist organization's hideout. This was created during a part-time job after retiring from the company.
- Amazing Dad
- A Flash animated film depicting a father with extraordinary physical abilities, his later works tend to feature subdued grotesqueness .
- Moving Magistrate
- This game was created using the physics engine Box2D FlashAS3, in which players use a catapult to throw furniture to destroy a house as a way for "Grandma" to move. Since house models easily collapse in the physics engine, Miyazawa came up with the idea of using the method of moving to destroy the house. The "Grandma" was created to create a sense of everyday life. Although "Grandma" can be hit directly, she is set to speak in a bullish manner even if she is hit directly, to avoid being treated as abusive .
- Although it is said that "Grandma" moved out as a result of issues between her mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, there is no official storyline that led to the move .
- Tower of Swell
- In this game, you operate a forklift equipped with a device to neutralize tornadoes , and eliminate the powerful tornadoes that occur once every 15 years.
- The story has a serious plot, with the protagonist being an elderly man who has lost his wife in the past and is willing to risk his own life in order to obtain a grant .
- Moai Turning
- The first of the Moai series. This work was created for the BROAD STAR contest, and the Moai statues were used to attract attention among the other submitted works. When you move the cursor on the screen, the Moai statues arranged radially rotate, and you clear the game by finding the point where all the Moai are looking at the camera .
- Moai's Nest
- The second game in the Moai series. No clicking is required; you can destroy the Moai by touching them with the mouse cursor. If you destroy 100 Moai within 30 seconds, you clear the stage and move on to the next stage. The American crayfish that appear in the Kaminarimon stage were added by an excited Miyazawa just before release . Adobe Shockwave and GungHo Games versions were also released . It won the Excellence Award in the Indies category at the Japan Game Awards.
- Moai Tower
- The third film in the Moai series. It is depicted more three-dimensionally than the previous Moai series, and the player must rescue the Moai that appear on top of a swaying tower using a ladder in the sky. The game is cleared when 100 Moai are rescued. A Moai that resembles Tetsuko Kuroyanagi also appears .
- OVER 50
- Mag Rabbit
- Escargot
- The game stars a snail from outer space who must collect shell and stone money , which is used as currency on Earth , to repair his spaceship .
- Use the mouse
- Paper sumo . In order to recreate the unfairness of real paper sumo, a nearly random algorithm has been created. The wrestlers used by the player are also decided by roulette, so things rarely go as the player expects . The voice actor is the same as the Moai who resembles Tetsuko Kuroyanagi from "The Tower of Moai" .
- Dispatch!! First Cutter Enterprises
- It was created as an advertisement for Daiichi Cutter Kogyo Co., Ltd.'s new graduate recruitment program. The game features actual employees playing the characters in a battle game .
- Mr.Sweets
- Red, white and yellow
- The game involves dropping Tetris -like blocks in sync with the song and music , causing them to disappear. The singer is the same for both games .
- Schkokokoko
- This is a shooting game that was only available at the event, and uses a soap bottle as a controller. The player moves when the bottle is tilted, and shoots when the head is pressed .
- Iseki Climber
- In this arcade game, players climb ruins using a rope-shaped controller and left and right buttons to switch between three ropes (right, center, and left). There are obstacles such as rocks and thorns along the way that must be avoided. Speed control is also an important element .
