A "Symphonina" is a new genre of classical music created in 2018 by Dr. David Fogel. Symphoninas are short complete symphonies that play in about 10-12 minutes with 3 or 4 melodic movements, each about the length of a typical streaming tune^[1]. With this format, each movement plays in a length of time that people have become accustomed to listening to on their phones ^[2]

The concept for the Symphonina came to Fogel in response to observing the aging audiences attending classical performances. Fogel created the Symponina Foundation (https://symphonina.org/), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, along with Gary Gray, to help support the development of this new genre and spreading "the joy of symphonic music to young audiences around the world."

These albums include Symphoninas by composers Christopher Reed ^[3], Steve Locks ^[4], Alexander Unseth, Jordan Jinosko, David Fogel ^[5], and Daniel Fisher ^[6]. The orchestras performing on the albums include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, and the International Symphonina Orchestra. ^[7] ^[8]. Introducing the Symphonina was #10 on Billboard's Traditional Classical Albums charts for the week of March 2, 2024 ^[9]. Advent of the Symphonina was #1 on Billboard's Traditional Classical Albums chart for the week of August 31, 2024. ^[10] ^[11]

Symphoninas have received peer recognition by organizations such as Clouzine, World Entertainment Awards, ^[12], Hollywood in Media Awards, Elite Music Awards, and the Global Music Awards ^[13]. Symphoninas were used in the soundtrack to a Gold Telly Award-winning short animated film (2024) ^[14].

The Symphonina Foundation conducts an annual Best Symphonina of the Year competition for composers internationally. ^[23].
