The Swiss Dental Students Association (SDSA) is an organization representing Swiss dental students. It advocates for its members from the dental faculties of Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich at both national and international levels.
History
[edit]In January 2023, representatives from the four dental faculties of Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich came together and conceived the idea of establishing a national student organization. By April 1, 2023, the concept was developed, and the Swiss Dental Students Association was officially founded in Bern.[1]
On a national level, in the same year, the SDSA formed partnerships with the Swiss Dental Association SSO [2] and the Swiss Medical Students’ Association (swimsa). However, the organization remains independent of both associations.
In April of the same year, the SDSA became a full member of the European Dental Students' Association (EDSA) [3] and in September, it joined the International Association of Dental Students (IADS) [4], thus representing Switzerland in international dialogue.
In 2024, the SDSA hosted its inaugural congress, thus establishing itself in the Swiss dental student community.
Members and Projects
[edit]The student associations of the faculties of Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich are considered members of the SDSA with voting rights at the General Assembly.
Since its founding year, the SDSA has been striving to initiate projects in the areas of Public Health, Prevention, and Education.
