The aim of the game is to for the player to be the first to reach a certain number of Victory Points. A player earns victory points by capturing provinces, constructing buildings and increasing the moral in provinces [2].

A player starts by choosing an unassigned country or province and will continue throughout a set period of time or a someone wins. If a player does inactive, they're allocation will continue and be run by the game's AI which aims to emulate how a human would. During the game, a player will need to construct building and produce weaponry and other units [3]. Through access to a materials stock park or trade with other players or production through locations they control.

Players can team up with others with alliances or go solo [4]. An alliance can be up to 5 players with a maximum map size of 500.

Game Maps

[edit]

All games within Supremacy 1914 are played on multiple different maps types[6].

10 Player Map

[edit]

The oldest map still in use in the game is the "10 Player Map". As the name suggests, this game type allows up to ten players to compete against each other [7]. Resources are distributed un-evenly across the map.

World in Flames

[edit]

"World in Flames" is a 100 player map.

Historical Scenario Map

[edit]

31 Player Map

[edit]

This map was the second release in Supremacy 1914. As the name suggests, this map type has 31 countries to chose from [8].

Buildings

[edit]

There are nine buildings of differing levels available to players throughout the game. Some of these buildings are only available after a certain number of in-game days have passed; or after other buildings have first been completed.

Fortresses

[edit]

Fortresses are defensive buildings available in the game. Players have up to five levels that can be constructed. The five levels of these buildings provide increasing levels of defence to any units situated within as well as increasing the moral of said units and the province as a whole. Fortresses of level two and higher also hide the units held within as well as the number [9].

Recruiting Offices

[edit]

A recruitment office is required within a province to provide new infantry units. The time in which new units are produced depend on the population of the province and the moral [10]. Recruitment offices are auto constructed for premium account in every province controlled by a player [11].

Barracks

[edit]

Barracks are available to build once a province has a recruitment office constructed. There are two levels available to build. Level one barracks increase the recruitment by 50% and 100% when a player builds level two [12].

Workshops

[edit]

Workshops are available from the start of a game. Two levels are available to build with level one being a requirement to produce both the armoured car and balloon units [13]. They are also a requirement to construct factories.

Factories

[edit]

Factories are available to build once both workshop levels have been completed. There are four levels of factory that can be build with each level reducing the production time of new units. It is also required to produce stronger units [14].

Railways

[edit]

Railways are a building that will impact the game for the player in multiple ways. These buildings increase both the moral of a province and the production of resources. The railway is required to produce a railgun and have the unit move. It will also increase the speed with which all units (with the exception of planes flying over) while passing through [15].

Harbours

[edit]

Harbours are building available to be constructed in provinces with access to the coast. They are required to produce both naval units available in the game. Having a harbour will also increase the speed that all other units entry the seas into transport ships. Like with railways, these buildings also increase the moral and resource production within the province [16].

Aerodromes

[edit]

Aerodromes are buildings that are required to produce fighter and bomber aircraft [17].

Capital

[edit]

The capital province is designated as the national capital for a player. The capital building signifies which provides moral boost for all other provinces subject to how the travel time is [18].

Units

[edit]

The game has multiple different units that a player can produce through the game. Each unit has certain requirements in order to produce and has a daily upkeep in both finances and resources [19].

Infantry

[edit]

The infantry brigades are the basic unit of the game and form as the most common element of the armies and battles [20]. They are not the strongest units in the game and the strength can vary depending on the unit's moral and damage sustained in other battles.

Armoured Cars

[edit]

Armoured cars are the earliest producible unit available in the game. The unit only requires a player to construct a workshop to be able to produce [21].

Artillery

[edit]

Artillery units are ranged weaponry units capable of bombing enemy targets without the need for direct combat. These are available with only a level one factory. They are poor at self-defence so are vulnerable when not protected by other units [22].

Cavalry

[edit]

Cavalry units are the next level up from infantry units. These can be produced when a player builds barracks (of any level) [23].

Tanks

[edit]

There are two tank units available in the game. Tanks or light tanks are available once a level two factory has been built.

Heavy Tanks

[edit]

Heavy tanks are available with a level three factory.

Railgun

[edit]

Railguns are the most powerful artillery available in the game [24]. The range is far greater than that of standard artillery units and of the seafaring battleships. They however can only move within provinces with fully-operational railways. They are very slow making them vulnerable to attack from enemy units.

Light Cruisers

[edit]

Light cruisers are the first available sea-based unit available in the game. These can be produced once a player constructs a factory and harbour (so coastal areas only). They have the ability to bombard coastal enemy units (when such are in range) [25].

Submarines

[edit]

Submarines are one of three sea-based units available in the game. These are units of stealth as they cannot be detected unless flown over by planes, revealed by spies or engaged in battle with another marine unit [26].

Battleships

[edit]

Battleships are the strongest of seafaring units in the game. They have the capacity to strike units on the sea and within range on the shores.

Balloons

[edit]

Balloons are available early on in game only a level one workshop required. The primary use of this unit is scouting owing to the wide visibility. They are however slow and weak when it comes to combat [27].

Fighter Airplanes

[edit]

Fighters airplanes are one of only two flying units available in the game. The player must first build an aerodrome in a province along with a factory. These units can be used to either patrol the skies in a given area or attack ground-based armies [28].

Bombers

[edit]

The other type of air unit is the bomber aeroplane. These units are stronger against ground units as well as enemy buildings[29]
