The Superintendent of Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools serves as the chief administrative officer of the District and is appointed by the District's Board of Education. Since July 1, 2021, the position has been held by Anna Stubblefield, an African-American educator and former deputy superintendent of Lawrence Public Schools.[1]

Duties and powers

The superintendent is the chief administrative officer in the district, overseeing its operations and managing key responsibilities. This includes delegating authority to the Deputy Superintendent of Instruction, as guided by the Board of Education. The superintendent also has the responsibility of supervising the Executive Director of Special Education and district superintendents.
