Sundari Thakur is an Indian social activist, leader, and advocate for women, children, and senior citizen welfare. She is the founder and National President of several prominent non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on women's rights and empowerment, including Nari Samman Sangathan and Women Respect Foundation. In addition to her work in social welfare, she has held leadership roles in various national and state organizations, advocating for the rights and betterment of marginalised communities.[1]

[edit]Sundari Thakur is the founder and National President of Nari Samman Sangathan, a registered NGO working for women's empowerment and welfare.[2] She is also the founder and National President of Women Respect Foundation,[3][4] another NGO claims to be focused on advancing the cause of women in India.[5]
In addition to her NGO work, Thakur serves as the National President of Karni Sena, an organization dedicated to the upliftment and rights of women. She is also the National President of the Women Cell of the National Human Rights Security Organization India, a government-registered body focused on human rights issues across the country.[citation needed]
Advocacy for Women's Rights and Public Welfare
[edit]Thakur has taken on leadership roles in numerous organizations that advocate for women's and children's welfare, including her position as National General Secretary of Veerangana within the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha. Her commitment to women's empowerment is further reflected in her tenure as the National President of the Women Cell of Muskan Org., based in Vrindavan, U.P.[citation needed]
She has also contributed significantly to global social causes as Maharashtra State General Secretary (Women) of Vishva Pravasi Sangh, a wing of the RSS that serves the World NRI Social & Cultural Association. Her work for the betterment of women's rights has earned her recognition as the Maharashtra State Spokesperson of the NAMO Group Foundation[6] and Maharashtra State President of Women of Kesariya Hindu Parishad.[citation needed]
Political and Social Roles
[edit]Thakur holds significant roles in the political and social spheres, including her position as Mumbai State In-Charge of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, a pan-Indian organization focused on community welfare. She is also a member of the CISF Mumbai Grievance Committee and has served on various police and community committees, such as the Mohalla Police Committee and Dakshita Police Committee.[citation needed]
Her advocacy extends to supporting survivors of violence as a Member of the Acid Survivors & Women Welfare Foundation (ASWWF)[7]', and as an External Member of Lemon Tree Hotels constituted under the S.H. of Women at Workplace (PPR) Act, 2013.[citation needed]
Media and Press Involvement
[edit]In the media and journalism sector, Dr. Thakur has contributed to the welfare of working journalists through her role as a National Executive Member at the Press Club of Working Journalists[8]'. She also serves as an Advisor at the Press Welfare Association of India, where she provides guidance on issues related to the welfare of media professionals.[9]
