Ramesh Nath Pandey (b. 1945) is a Nepali politician and former foreign minister. He was Editor of 'Naya Sandesh' and 'New Herald' newspapers which were popular Nepali newspapers for 30 years (1960-90). He was jailed several times during the Panchayat system for having been close to B.P. Koirala, the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal who was in Sundarijal prison. In 1984, he was nominated by King Birendra to the national parliament - the Rastriya Panchayat. He served for 20 years as a member of parliament. In 1986, he was appointed minister of state for Tourism, Labour and Social Welfare. He received the Boeing 757 bought by the then Royal Nepal Airlines in 1987 and the state carrier used to fly to Europe. In 1989 he was appointed Minister for Communication, Industry and in 1999 as minster for Population and Environment. In 2002, King Gyanendra appointed him minister for General Administration and Information and Communications. He was member of the government committee that negotiated with the Maoists rebels but the talks did not succeed. In 2005, he was Nepal's foreign minister. Pandey is author of two books, 'Kutniti ra Rajniti' and 'Kranti ra Pratikranti.'
